TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Crimson Tide football team took part in a morning practice in shells inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility on Friday. Following the workout, the team departed Tuscaloosa for Birmingham to board its flight to Santa Clara, Calif., and is set to arrive in the early evening.
Friday’s practice was the Tide’s final session in Tuscaloosa and the fourth of six practices prior to the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the second-ranked Clemson Tigers on Monday, Jan. 7. The final game of the 2018 season will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., with a 7 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN. The broadcast will feature Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit in the booth with Tom Rinaldi and Maria Taylor on the sidelines.
Alabama and Clemson will meet for the 19th time in the series on Monday evening. The matchup will be the two teams’ fourth consecutive Playoff pairing in as many years, with the Tide holding a 2-1 advantage in the previous meetings. UA also holds the all-time advantage at 14-4 in a series that dates back to 1900. The Crimson Tide and Tigers last met in the 2018 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl last season in New Orleans, La., on Jan. 1, with UA coming out on top, 24-6, inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
