TROY, Ala. (WPMI) — Off the heels of the Troy Trojan's third-straight season with 10 or more wins, West Virginia has hired Neal Brown as their next head coach.
West Virginia made the official announcement Saturday. Brown and the Trojans were in Mobile two weeks ago for the Dollar General Bowl where Troy defeated Buffalo 42-32 for its 10 win.
Brown was named Troy's head coach back in 2015. After a 4-8 season his first year, he quickly began making history at the Sun Belt Conference school.
Over the last three seasons under Brown, Troy has had 31 wins, three 10 win seasons, three-straight bowl wins and a shared conference championship with App State in 2017.
In that time Troy had two wins over Power 5 schools. One of the Trojan's most notable wins in his tenure came last season over LSU and a win over Nebraska this past season.
Troy was also the first-ever Sun Belt team to be ranked in 2016. The Trojan's were ranked 25 in the Associated Press rankings and received votes in the coaches poll.
Brown's success has had his name come up in many coaching searches in the last few weeks as he's one of only six FBS coaches to win 10 or more games the last three seasons.
After Brown is replacing Dana Holgorsen, who left West Virginia to become Houston's head coach.
