Daphne High School hires new head baseball coach

(Daphne, AL)--Daphne High School Administration and Athletic Department announced the

hiring of Brent Boyd as their Head Baseball Coach.

In making the announcement Coach Kenny King, Daphne High School’s Athletic Director commented,

“We are extremely excited to have this opportunity for such a high caliber coach to lead our baseball

program. Coach Boyd is undoubtedly one of the very best coaches in the state. It will be a fantastic

opportunity for Daphne players going forward to play for him.”

Coach Boyd comes by coaching and teaching naturally, his mother having a career as a special education

teacher and his father having a long tenure as a football coach and superintendent of a large

metropolitan school district in Texas. Coach Boyd was a collegiate baseball success at the University of

Alabama, where he was named UA Athlete of the Year as well as the SEC Tournament MVP. He has

continued that winning tradition at Spanish Fort High School with an overall record of 190-60.

Dr. Meredith Foster, Daphne High Principal, described this as a pivotal hire. She said, “Coach Boyd has

tremendous charisma and a proven track record of success. He is a leader and a winner. His

commitment to develop the potential of high school players and give them lifelong skills for success as

well as opportunities to play at the next level is a very desirable quality. No wonder those who know

him well have been so supportive of this move.”
