The 20th Dollar General Bowl game brought the excitement Saturday night.

Two high-powered offenses in Buffalo (10-4) and Troy (10-3) went toe-to-toe in a shootout--and the Trojans prevailed 42-32.

Led by quarterback Sawyer Smith, Troy put up 433 offensive yards. Game MVP Trey Eafford caught 13 passes and contributed 101 yards, as well as two touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, Bulls quarterback Tyree Jackson--who's listed at 6-foot-7, 245 pounds--went 20-for-35 with 274 yards passing, a touchdown and an interception.

The Bulls and Trojans traded touchdowns in the first five minutes of the game, but the next score didn't come until the second quarter. Buffalo drove 96 yards in 6 minutes to take the lead, which it held into the second half.

After that, it was all Troy.

The Trojans pulled away in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 points on three touchdown passes. Two of those, a 45-yard and a 20-yard pass, went to senior wideout Sidney Davis.

Jackson used his size and mobility to keep Buffalo in the game, completing a two-point pass in the fourth quarter, but a missed field goal with a minute left sealed the game.

Turnovers made the difference--the Bulls returned a fumble 93 yards for a scoop and score, but the Trojans forced them to drop the ball six times.

For three of them, Troy came away with it.

This was the first time the two teams had ever met.
