Reality Check: Local neighborhood sidewalk repair
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Sidewalks in shambles has led to the city of Mobile promise to follow through on it's promise to fix sidewalks in one local neighborhood, after failing to do so years ago.
80-year-old Dorothy Jones says she went to the city in 2013.
She asked them to fix sidewalks near her home on Clinton Street.
Badly cracked and broken up the sidewalks are not just unsightly, they're actually causing problems for Mrs. Jones and her neighbors.
We confirmed a city of Mobile worker inspected the area in 2013 promising then the sidewalks would be fixed within 5 years, but 5 years came and went.
So Mrs. Jones again reached out to her councilman who in turn punted the problem to the mayor's office last month in a letter.
We can now report, the city of Mobile promises this project is in the pipeline and that the sidewalk will be repaired.
