Virginia AG admits to wearing blackface
RICHMOND, Va. (WPMI) —
Another Virginia official is in the middle of controversy.
State Attorney General Mark Herring stepped down as the co-chair of the Democratic Attorneys General Association wednesday.
Earlier in the day Herring admitted appearing in blackface at a 1980 party.
In a statement, Herring said he was 19-years-old when he dressed up as a rapper at a party and wore brown make-up.
Herring said it was the only time and that it's not reflective of the man he is now.
Days earlier he called for Virginia's Governor Ralph Northam to resign over a racist photograph on Northam's 1984 yearbook page.
The picture shows a man in black face and another dressed as a member of the KKK.
Northam has said he is not in the photo.
