Some Birmingham schools adding Esports in February
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WPMI) —
Competitive video gaming arriving at Birmingham area high schools next semester.
Esports season starts in February and it's sanctioned by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
So far 30 schools have signed up.
200 colleges and universities across the nation offer Esports scholarships and actively recruit.
One Hoover High School coach is looking forward to the start of the season.
No gender requirements or limit to how many teams can form.
This gives everyone a chance to compete.
Wednesday, Esports coaches from across the state hosting a webinar.
They'll discuss how to get teams up and running.
