Birmingham Diocese release names of priests accused of abuse
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WPMI) —
New developments have came in Birmingham surrounding the Catholic church and clergy sex abuse scandal.
The Bishop for the Diocese of Birmingham released the names of clergy accused of committing acts of child abuse .
Our sister station in Birmingham reports that 4 of the accused are now dead.
Two others were removed from the ministry.
Jack Ventura was removed in 1985.
Kevin Cooke was removed in 2002.
Bishop Robert Baker asked for forgiveness of all the victims and their families.
The Archdiocese of Mobile released 29 names of Catholic priests and clergy credibly accused of sexual misconduct with children since 1950.
16 of the 29 people on the list are deceased.
That list was released nearly two weeks ago.
