Alabama teen nominated for Carnegie Hero Medal
LAMAR COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) —
A Lamar County, Alabama teenager is now up for a Carnegie Hero Medal after he helped rescue a woman after she was kidnapped.
According to our sister station in Birmingham, last June -- 17-year-old CJ McLemore intervened when he witnessed a man attacking a woman.
Investigators say the woman was kidnapped in Marion County by Marshall Gray.
Gray then drove the woman to Lamar County where they ran into slow traffic.
That's when the woman got out of the car and into McLemore's truck.
McLemore says he drove down a hill to get the woman away from Gray and called 9-1-1.
The Carnegie Medal CJ is up for is awarded to people who risk their lives to an extraordinary degree to save or attempt to save the lives of others.
