16th Street Baptist Church wins $150k in preservation funds
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WPMI) —
An Alabama church that has felt the sting of deadly violence has received $150,000 in preservation funds.
The 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham is 1 of 11 recipients to get a a grant from the Partners in Preservation Campaign.
Last month marked 55 years since the racially motivated bombing at the predominantly African-American church.
A bombing that killed 4 little girls.
This grant helps restore historic windows in the church, the cupola, and bell towers that were installed back in 1911.
