Tropical Storm Kirk forms in Atlantic (IMG:WPMI)

Tropical Storm Kirk became the 11th named storm of the season on Saturday morning. It currently resides off the coast of Africa, but promises to move west over the next week toward the Windward Islands and eventually the Caribbean.

Tropical Depression Eleven, located just east of the Windward Islands is moving through a hostile environment and is forecast dissipate over the next 24 to 48 hours. The TD may briefly achieve named storm status before it falls apart.

A tropical disturbance (Invest 98) located just south of Bermuda currently has a 40% chance of additional development as it moves toward the Carolinas...yes, the same area that was devastated by Florence. A tropical depression, let alone a tropical storm could make a catastrophic situation even worse in North and South Carolina.

Last, but not least, a strong tropical wave (Invest 90) in the middle Atlantic has a high chance (70%) of future formation. This system will most likely become "Leslie", but it's also forecast to remain away from land.
