Mobile murder trial pushed back due to unseen body camera video
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
The murder trial of man accused of running over a woman in her wheelchair is being pushed back because mass of new evidence.
Police say Melvin Martin was intoxicated when he hit Meredith Baxley with his car in February of last year.
It happened on Azalea Road when Baxley was crossing the street in her motorized wheelchair.
Martin is charged with manslaughter and DUI.
The trial was set to start Monday.
According to court documents, the defense was notified there are 25 body camera videos from that night they didn't know about.
The trial has been pushed back to February and he could face life in prison.
