UPDATE:

According to Mobile Police, on Friday, November 24, 2023, at approximately 11:41 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Dauphin Island Parkway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim, Mr. Joe Henderson, 43 years old, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Mr. Henderson was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Shortly after the incident, investigators identified Jamal Hicks, 22 years old, as the suspect, and apprehended him. He has been charged with murder and transported to Metro Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Mobile Police at the scene of a shooting this afternoon that had detectives roping off two crime scenes, one a residence, the other at a gas station and convenience store.

Detective were focus on the parking lot of the Energize gas station at the corner of DIP and Halls Mill Rd.

Workers at a Dollar Store next to the gas station tell NBC 15 News a woman rushed into their store and asked them to call 911.

People in the neighborhood also tell us a person has died, but so far, Mobile PD has not released any details.

Police may already have important clues.

The store has security cameras mounted on the building and they were operating at the time.

Police also roped off a sidewalk and lawn outside a house at the corner of DIP and Bankhead, about two blocks away from the gas station.

No word yet on how the two are connected, but we hope to have new information from mobile pd in the next few hours.
