A warm and moist flow from the Gulf of Mexico has helped fog to form and visibility is especially low close to the coast.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 am. Out the door temperatures are in the low to mid 60s.

Showers and storms return to the forecast this afternoon, but they’ll be lacking the necessary ingredients for severe weather. Pockets of brief, heavy rainfall are expected in addition to occasional lightning strikes.

Afternoon temperatures climb into the upper 70s which is 10 to 15 degrees above normal.

After a relatively calm Friday, our next weathermaker moves through this weekend. A strong cold front sweeping across the Deep South should ignite a line of intense thunderstorms.

While widespread severe weather, including several tornadoes, will be to our north across the Tennessee Valley, a few severe storms are possible along the Gulf Coast Saturday night.
