Toxic sludge no longer headed to Theodore
THEODORE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Toxic sludge that was headed to Theodore will not be trucked in, as planned.
The arsenic-laced material is being removed right now from a site in Fort Myers Florida.
It was going to be used in the cement making process at Lafarge Holcim in Theodore.
Late this afternoon learned from the company it no longer plans to accept that material.
Testing performed on it last week revealed it does not meet their processing requirements.
The company is removing itself from the bid.
No word tonight where the toxic sludge will go.
