Suspect's father apologizes after Mobile police officer killed

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) - 19-year-old Marco Perez was taken into custody after Mobile Police Officer Sean Tuder's innocent life was taken in the line of duty.

It was an emotional scene at Peach Place Inn as officers learned that one of their own had been gunned down, tragically leaving behind his family and devastating the community.

Perez's father spoke to NBC 15 about this tragedy and his son.

"First of all, I want to come out and apologize for the loss of the police officer tonight," said Mr. Perez. "I would have never thought...that my son would ever do anything like that."

Perez went on to say, "We raised him to be a better man. We don't know what happened to our son...Again, I am deeply sorry for all the trouble he caused -- not just the police officer, (but also) the families for their loss."

His family says Marco will reap what he has sewn. They say that they will not be at Perez's upcoming court date.
