Storms and wet weekend weather
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Like last night, showers and storms will come to a stop tonight, but they’ll return on Sunday. Thunderstorms, mainly along the coast during the morning will move inland during the afternoon. Prepare for pockets of heavy rain and lots of lightning Sunday as temperatures climb into the upper 80s.
Showers and storms remain a safe bet on Monday and Tuesday. but the activity should not be as widespread as it was over the weekend. However, there are signs of upper level dynamics moving overhead on Tuesday which may ignite a few stronger storms capable of damaging wind and small hail.
Looking ahead We don’t often talk about cold fronts along the Gulf Coast in August, but one appears to be headed our way. While it certainly won’t be ‘cold’ the coolest air of the season looks like a safe bet late in the week. We have not dipped below 70 in Mobile since June 7, but that streak should come to an end as temperatures fall into the 60s on Thursday and Friday morning.
