Sister Sledge, the 1970's soul group, will not be headlining Mobile's New Year's Eve celebration, despite the announcement made by city officials on Wednesday.

NBC 15 News reached out to Sister Sledge's management for clarification, after noticing that the group were booked to perform in Florida on New Years Eve.

"The official Sister Sledge (featuring sisters Debbie and Kim Sledge, plus band) is indeed performing in Florida on New years Eve (as listed on our official website/social media channels)," the band's manager told NBC 15 News.

After receiving this statement we reached out to the Downtown Mobile Alliance for comment.

"The sisters are touring separately this New Year’s Eve. The back up singers will be in Florida, we have Kathy, the lead sister. Both have the rights to use the name and to all the music. I’m not sure what the set up will be in Florida, but we’ll have her 15 piece band that, as Fred says, “will rock the house!” Alliance spokesperson Carol Hunter said.
