Sex offender asks judge for castration
MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) —
A convicted sex offender in Madison, county Alabama asking for a shorter sentence in a rare exchange for something else.
56-year-old Stephen Bunyard told a judge that castration would be better than serving a full prison sentence.
Bunyard made the request after violating his parole from a 2007 rape.
Bunyards' attorney says he violated his parole by not paying court fees, leaving the state, and getting a DUI in Tennessee.
The judge denied his request and sentenced him to 30 years in prison.
Bunyard was in court for another case from earlier this year.
He's accused of raping a 79-year-old woman and another woman.
Bunyard has three sex crime convictions dating back to the 80's.
The judge sent his case to a grand jury and if he's convicted of rape he'll be facing life without parole
