Saraland GROWTH: New Publix, restaurants, hotel coming soon!
SARALAND, Ala. (WPMI) —
Deemed one of the fastest growing cities in Mobile County, the mayor in Saraland is preparing for a historic boom in growth.
Saraland Mayor Howard Rubenstein confirmed a new Cracker Barrel, Azteca's, Whataburger, Publix, Hampton Inn hotel, and a splash pad are all in the works.
"Honestly, this is going to bring hundreds of jobs," he said, "it's going to be a great economic boom".
The Cracker Barrel and Hampton Inn will be located on Shell Street. The Whataburger, Azteca's, and Publix will be located off Highway 158. Saraland City Council voted to build a new splash pad Thursday night. They haven't decided where the it will be located.
"We have a lot going on right now," Rubenstein said, "it's a good time for the city".
The mayor is citing public safety and the city's school system for all of the continued growth. He said Saraland is turning into a suburban destination.
"We have a safe city," Rubenstein said, "we have outstanding police and fire. We have one of the best school systems in the state".
Along with the new restaurants and hotel, the new Infirmary Medical Plaza is also set to open in October.
