MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Our next weathermaker moves through the area today. While most of the energy, and thus violent weather will be to our north, thunderstorms are a safe bet late tonight into early Friday morning. The best bet to see severe weather in the form of damaging wind in the NBC 15 viewing area will be across Greene (MS), Washington, and Clarke counties, but the risk is very low. Farther south in Mobile and Baldwin County, occasional thunder and lightning will be accompanied by gusty wind to 30 mph and rainfall up to .75".
A warm, moist, and strong south wind will push high temperatures into the upper 70s and low 80s this afternoon. That same wind will produce dangerous, life-threatening rip currents along area beaches today!
In the wake of this system, much cooler air will spill into the area just in time for your St. Patrick's Day weekend. Expect chilly days barely edging into the low 60s Saturday with mid 60s and a little more sun on Sunday. After one last push of light rain from the Gulf on Saturday, we are tracking a dry forecast through the middle of next week.
