Escambia County, Florida authorities have identified the man killed in a deputy- involved shooting.

This is a shooting they say happened after he tried to use a meat cleaver to attack them.

The shooting happened early Saturday morning.

Authorities say 65-year-old John Young, who lived at the Alabaster Garden Apartments, called the sheriff's office saying someone had been murdered inside one of the apartments.

When deputies arrived they say Young was holding a meat cleaver and another sharp object, refusing to drop the weapons and then attacked them.

That's when he was fatally shot.

Ben Stallworth was at his mother's next door when it all went down.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the case.

No word yet if the deputies involved are on administrative leave.
