Mother hit and killed in Robertsdale traffic accident identified

According to Robertsdale Police, on July 14th the Robertsdale Police Department was called to the area of Divine Road and Highway 59 for the report of an unruly subject that had jumped from a vehicle.

Officers responded to the area and made contact with family members of the subject including the subject’s mother.

The officers were searching the area for the subject when he ran across Highway 59 from the East to the West side.

The subject’s mother, Lashonda Katrice Preston, saw him and she ran across the road in the same direction.

Preston was struck and killed by a vehicle that was traveling Southbound on Highway 59.

The driver of the vehicle was a 20-year-old Robertsdale resident.

Preston, age 41, was from the Montgomery Alabama area.

The accident remains under investigation but at this time there are no indications that there will be any charges against the driver of the vehicle.
