A man out on bond for murder now faces multiple car burglary charges.

Jesse Lane was charged in 2016 on Halloween night for the murder of Lumumba Kyle Green in Prichard. Green’s body was found burned inside a car in Alabama Village.

Lane was released on a $200,000 bond, which investigators say is very low for someone who's charged with murder.

Mobile County Sheriff’s Captain Paul Burch says Jesse Lane went on a crime spree, breaking into several vehicles in Mobile County and Mobile over the past few weeks.

Burch says Lane stole several guns, spare keys, credit cards and other items from the cars and pawned some of the guns.

MCSO arrested Lane’s friend, Jasmine Davis, yesterday while she was trying to pawn some of the stolen items.

"It's very frustrating," Burch said. "If you just look at his history in general, he has a number of weapon violations, a previous robbery. I don't know if any of that was taken into consideration because he would have a much higher bond and probably wouldn't be able to make it."

Burch says he satisfied Lane is back in their custody.

"Very significant to get someone like him off the street," he said.

Investigators say they also recovered several spare car keys from Lane.

They remind people to lock their car doors and to not leave any spare keys or firearms in their vehicles overnight.
