Police: Man found shot to death in Prichard gas station parking lot, suspect confesses

According to Prichard Police, on 8/2/2018, officers responded to Texaco Gas (1651 St Stephens Rd. Prichard, AL 36610) in reference to one being shot.

Upon arrival of officers to the scene, they found a black male subject lying face down in the parking lot in front of the store.

EMS was requested, and upon them arriving and turning the subject over, it was then observed that the victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to USA Hospital where he later died from his injury. The victim has been identified as 31-yr-old Javoris Miguel James.

Due to the extent of the victim’s injury, and the belief that the victim might not make it, all CID personnel were called out to the scene, along with MCSO Crime Scene Investigator’s.

While conducting our investigation, detectives were able to obtain video footage of the incident that led to the horrific life-ending altercation between the victim and (2) assailants.

After viewing the video footage, detectives were able to identify one of the two assailants as being 18-yr-old JaQuarrius La’Kendell Nodd, and then devised a plan to go apprehend him.

After the subject was apprehended, he was taken to police headquarters,where he was read his rights and questioned. Upon being questioned, Nodd admitted to detectives that he shot and caused the death of Javoris James.

Subject will be transported to Metro Jail on the charge of 1st Degree Murder. Detectives are still looking and inquiring about the second black male suspect who was initially involved in the fight with the victim prior to him being shot.
