Human remains found in Santa Rosa Co. believed to be woman missing since May
SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) -- A homicide investigation is underway in Santa Rosa County after deputies received a tip that led to the discovery of human remains in Jay.
According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a tip in reference to possible human remains on the property of 7796 Highway 4.
On Friday, deputies served a warrant to the residence and began searching for the remains. On Sunday, Sheriff Bob Johnson said the remains of a body were discovered in a shallow grave.
Sheriff Johnson said in a press conference Monday that investigators believe the remains are that of 38-year-old Felecia Kuswandy.
Kuswandy was reported missing by family members back on May 28, 2018.
Sheriff Johnson added that the address where the remains were discovered are where Kuswandy was last known to be.
The State Attorney’s Office, University of West Florida’s Anthropology Department, and Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office detectives are continuing to excavate the remains from the grave, Sheriff Johnson added.
He said once the remains are excavated, they will be able to confirm if the body is that of Kuswandy and how she died.
At this time no arrests have been made.
