Governor Ivey declares flu outbreaks an emergency

A public health emergency is on the rise.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey is taking action as flu continues to spread across the state.

This allows the Alabama Department of Public Health and Alabama's Emergency Management Agency to seek federal assistance.

Local doctors report nearly double the number of flu cases compared to this time last year.

Some of them say it's the worst flu season they've ever seen.
