As Hurricane Michael continued to pound the Southeast U.S. today Governor Kay Ivey announced on Twitter that she's asked for emergency money from the federal government.

Around 6:00 p.m. (CST) Gov. Ivey tweeted that she had requested an emergency decleration from President Trump, allowing"preemptive federal assistance for debris removal, more generators and other resources."

"I can assure you we’re ready to help our citizens in southeast Alabama recover from Hurricane Michael and are prepared to get to work as soon as conditions improve," Ivey also tweeted.
