Fairhope Elementary principal & bookkeeper placed on administrative leave
FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WPMI) Terry Beasley, the principal of Fairhope, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a human resources review. The school's Bookkeeper Nancy Jernigan, is also on administrative leave.
Both employees were placed on administrative leave Tuesday.
Baldwin County Superintendent Eddie Tyler released a statement saying: "No preliminary judgments or conclusions should be made. I have asked retired Principal Tommie Conaway to serve as the leader at Fairhope Elementary during this time. She is already serving the school."
In 2000, Beasley was named Alabama's top principal. Six years later, he was accused of sexual harassment by a a former special ed teacher.
A federal grand jury later rejected those allegations.
Beasley has served as an educator in Mobile and Baldwin County School Systems for the past 30 years, according to the school's website. He has held his current position as principal at Fairhope Elementary School since 1995.
He is one of only two tenured principals left in the system. A human resources review is underway, no outcome has been determined.
