Taylor Billa, tan from being in the sun and playing at Medal of Honor Park, enjoyed the inflatables, hot dogs, balloons and more at the first event named for his late father Justin Billa, killed in the line of duty three months ago today.

The Justin Billa Memorial Foundation, headed by Erin Billa, held a community picnic to celebrate the comradery that enveloped the community following Billa’s death, and to thank the community for its support of the Billa family. Erin said the support she has received is overwhelming, and she hopes to hold at least two community events like the one today every year.

Attendance estimates for the three hour event were in the hundreds to a thousand people who came to get their faces painted, play in those bouncy houses or even dunk a police officer in a dunking booth on the hot day. It was also a chance for the community members to get to know local officers on a personal level, something Erin said she was grateful to see and hopeful to see more of.
