Mayor Haygood has designated Daphne Fire stations as drop-off points for Hurricane Michael relief supplies.

As recovery efforts continue along the Florida Panhandle, storm victims are getting even more help from Baldwin County.

The city of Daphne is taking donations and plans to send firefighters to help first responders who are already on the ground.

Daphne Mayor Dane Haygood said the city is collecting supplies for storm victims at City Hall and every fire station.

"Our community is certainly familiar with hurricane recovery, and the devastation that accompanies that and I think everybody wants to help," said Haygood.

Haygood said they need items like bottled water, non-perishable food, toiletries, hygiene products and pet food.

"A lot of the questions have been about what do they need. What are the resources we can provide? It's simple. Put yourself in those shoes. If we were here and didn't have access to buy new materials or go to the store and you were sort of trapped," Haygood said.

Mayor Haygood will take the supplies down at the end of the week but with him will be a special team of volunteers.

Chief Bo White with the Daphne Fire Department said a number of his firefighters have already signed up to help.

"Possibly take some chainsaws and see what kind of help we can render while we're there. We all realize that eventually, our time is coming. That's why we don't mind reaching out and helping our neighbors,” said Chief White.

Chief White said their goal is to help first responders already making a difference in the hardest hit areas.

"They're out trying to help the citizens so we need to see what kind of things we can do to help them get back on their feet," Chief White said.

Officials said new tents, chainsaws, and air mattresses are also needed.

If you’d like to help, you can donate at any Daphne Fire station or at City Hall until Friday morning.

The suggested items to donate are as follows:

  • Diapers
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Temporary shelter items such as tents and canopies

Please drop any of the above listed items off at any of Daphne's fire stations.

Only the items listed above are needed at this time.
