CODE RED WEATHER: Heavy Rain Threat on Saturday
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
It’s another cold and frosty start to the day, but like Wednesday, mainly blue skies will warm us into the upper 50s this afternoon.
Our weather will be worry-free on Friday as well before our next weather maker moves through this weekend.
Another powerful storm system promises to wreck outdoor plans on Saturday.
While severe weather in the form of damaging wind, hail, and tornadoes is not expected, heavy rainfall is a concern and that is why Saturday is a Code Red weather day.
Most locations should see 2-3” of rainfall, but the like last weekend the rain will be heavier in spots with four or five inches of rain not out of the question.
While showers are possible on Saturday morning, the heavy rain won't arrive until late afternoon.
The intense rainfall will ease up after midnight leaving us with lingering showers through Sunday morning.
Travel plans across the region this weekend? While most of the state should see a cold rain, areas along the border and farther north into the Tennessee Valley may see a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow.
