City of Mobile implements new parking system beginning in February

Through its new parking vendor Republic Parking System, the City of Mobile is implementing a state-of- the- art parking system in downtown. Beginning in February, Republic will install more than 400 new meters offering additional payment options using advanced parking technology.

The meters will accept coins, credit cards, and pay-by-phone technology through the Park Mobile parking app. Simply download the Park Mobile parking app and add time to the meter remotely. It’s easy to get started, and can be done with just a couple clicks on your smart phone.

Republic and the City of Mobile are working to give our customers the best parking experience possible. They are launching a new website,, with updated parking information. The website includes maps, rates, and answers to frequently asked parking questions. Along with the new meters, there will also be new signs and line striping, new designated long-term parking zones for restaurant and hospitality workers. This will provide visitors with access to the most convenient parking spaces at Mobile’s favorite downtown restaurants and shops.

“This is the next step to move the City’s outdated parking system into the 21st Century,” said Mayor Stimpson. “Embracing new technology will offer our citizens and visitors a more accessible and user-friendly experience. If your lunch meeting runs long, you can soon add more time to your parking straight from your phone. Our goal is to ensure this transition to a more innovative model is as smooth as possible.”
