$7.1 million coming to Mobile's Downtown Airport for improvements
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
$25 million dollars is coming to Alabama airports for improvements.
This includes $7.1 million for Mobile's downtown airport, the largest grant across the state.
These grants are a part of the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program.
It's aimed at ehancing airport security, capacity, and environmental concerns.
These improvements are unrelated to the plans to swap commercial passenger flights from Mobile Regional Airport to Downtown Mobile Airport.
The funds pay for the rehabilitation of runways, the reconstruction of a taxiway, and the installation of new taxi lighting.
