PRICHARD, Ala. (WPMI) — Five-year-old Prichard native Austin Perine has been named one of CNN's most influential people of 2018.
"True happiness is when you know your child is becoming a good person," says his father Terance Perine.
NBC 15 first brought you this story earlier in the year when Austin Perine began his big journey passing out food to the homeless in Prichard and Mobile.
Perine's selfless acts gained national attention. You may remember the video of Perine passing out the food that was shared millions of times.
He's little boy with a powerful message. He loves to put his cape on and hit the streets with his #ShowLove motto to make sure no one goes hungry.
"It's important to show love to the homeless because love is the answer," says Austin Perine.
Today is actually his birthday so happy birthday Austin.
He spent this morning doing what he loves and that's passing out food to the homeless.
His father says it makes him proud every time Austin puts a smile on someone else's face.
"It warms my heart to know the city of Mobile is proud of Austin and that he has made a difference throughout the entire world for people who needed hope," says Terance.
They want to know Austin isn't finished yet!
"Merry Christmas and year 5 is going to be better," says Austin.
