Fighting Back: Sharpening skills to land jobs
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Matthew Molette is not only getting a head start in his chosen career, he's one step closer to becoming more independent and living out his dream.
Mobile's job market is growing at a rapid pace. With it, there are many opportunities for our local youth.
However, there are many who don't have the skills they need to land those jobs.
That's why the Mobile-area education foundation has teamed up with more than 60 companies across the area to give kids the tools they need to land those jobs and better our community- It's their way of fighting back.
Matthew was one of 240 upcoming high school seniors who went through an interview process at a job fair and was hired by local companies to work during the summer.
Matthew was hired by Austal in their welding training program .
Once he graduates, there's a full-time job at Austal with Matthew's name on it.
Shannon Anderson landed a job with gulfquest working with the summer camps.
Her goal is to be a pediatrician, she's not working in the medical field but she is working with science and children and it's giving she and other students who were hired in the county what they need to be successful.
