Opinion: Our economy is booming, and the state of our union is strong
If Congressional Democrats’ obsession with senselessly obstructing President Trump had not delayed it – this week we would’ve heard the president’s State of the Union address.
Unfortunately, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to negotiate on funding enhanced security at our southern border – so President Trump’s State of the Union address will come a week later than it was intended to be given.
That drama aside, as I look at the State of our Union today, I have to say that our country has made incredible progress over the past year.
Our economy is booming and is on pace to be the envy of the world once again. According to the Department of Labor, there are now more job openings than people to fill them in America. Economic optimism has hit all-time highs, and wage growth is hitting new milestones.
The President has made great strides on the international arena – holding accountable dictators in North Korea and Venezuela and renegotiating trade deals like NAFTA that were hurting our economy.
The President is ensuring our security by going back to the negotiating table in order to put an end to the crisis taking place at our southern border by building a barrier there.
Critics can say whatever they want about the president’s methods and style of delivery – one thing is undeniable: the man gets results.
Here’s the bottom line: If you took a step back and analyze the past two years under President Trump through a non-partisan lens, would you say your life has gotten better?
Our economy is thriving, our nation is more secure, and the state of our union is strong.
