According to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office, a local teacher has been arrested and charged for engaging in a sexual relationship with a student.
Jonathan Sauers, a teacher and soccer coach at Faith Academy, has been charged with "School employee engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19 years", and "School employee engaging in sexual contact with a student under the age of 19 years."
According to the Sheriff's Office, the victim, an unnamed 16-year-old girl, told her parents she was going to the Walmart in Semmes.
When she was late, her parents went to look for her, found her car, and called Semmes police.
While police were at Walmart investigating, she returned to the car and, after being questioned by police, admitted she was having an affair with a male teacher.
The Semmes Police Department then contacted the Mobile County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
According to his LinkedIn page, Sauers teaches 8th grade science and 11th grade Bible, as well as serving as the varsity soccer coach for both the boys' and girls' teams.
