Jags' Red-Blue series to be played this weekend
MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama baseball team will hold its annual Red-Blue Series this weekend at Stanky Field.
The three-game series is set to kick off Fri., Nov. 10, at 3:30 p.m., followed by game two at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The series will conclude on Sun., Nov. 12, at 2:30 p.m.
The Red lineup, captained by Brendan Donovan, will consist of Dylan Hardy, Paul Russo, Donovan, Travis Swaggerty, Michael Sandle, Deyvid Silva, Hunter Brittain, Felix Aberouette and Hunter Stokes. Left-hander Zach Melton is scheduled to start game one for the Red squad. The Red bullpen will feature Jared Proctor, Sean Trimble, Chase Shell, Michael Marra, Tyler Perez and Alex Adair.
The Blue lineup, captained by Carter Perkins, features Drew LaBounty, Colton Thomas, Andrew Bates, Wells Davis, Perkins, Will Luft, Andrew Cash, Reid Powers and Evan Richards. Left-hander Conner Jednat is scheduled to start game one for the Blue squad. The Blue bullpen will feature Caleb Yarbrough, Addison Reed, Chase Lambert, Noah Michael, JoJo Booker, Austin Gossman and Reid Frazier.
In 13 intrasquad games this fall, Sandle leads the team in batting average (.405), total bases (28) and slugging percentage. He is tied with Hardy for the team lead in hits (17). Davis leads the team in home runs (3) and RBI (11). The Jags are hitting .279 as a team in 13 games with a .402 on-base percentage.
Marra is the lone pitcher to have not allowed an earned run this fall. Jednat leads the team in ERA (1.64) among pitchers who have tossed more than three innings. McBride leads the staff with 12 strikeouts. Jednat, McBride, and Shell each share the team lead in innings pitched (11). The Jaguar pitching staff has recorded 141 strikeouts in 170 1/3 innings pitched this fall.
