BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – All six members of the Alabama women’s golf team were honored when the Southeastern Conference announced its 2018 postseason awards on Thursday.

Sophomore Kristen Gillman and juniors Cheyenne Knight and Lauren Stephenson were named to the All-SEC First Team, while senior Lakareber Abe was a second team selection. Freshman Angelica Moresco received SEC All-Freshman Team honors. Senior Nicole Morales was chosen as the Tide’s SEC Community Service Team honoree.

The first-team selections for Gillman, Knight and Stephenson marks the fourth season in program history – and second in a row – that the Tide has landed three golfers on the All-SEC first team. In addition to the back-to-back selection of Gillman, Knight and Stephenson, Meadow, Brooke Pancake and Jennifer Kirby were selected in 2012 and Meadow, Lennarth and Pancake were recognized in 2011.

Through nine tournaments this season, Stephenson has a team-leading scoring average of 69.73 with nine top-10 finishes, including seven in the top-three and two tournament victories. Gillman is second on the squad with a 70.58 average, seven top-10 finishes and one victory. The pair also rank 1-2 on the squad in rounds at par or lower with 21 and 19, respectively, in 26 rounds played in 2017-18. Knight ranks third in the Alabama line-up with a 71.50 scoring average with four top-10 finishes and tournament victory this season. She has been at par or lower in 15 of 26 rounds played in 2018.

The All-SEC honors are the third for Knight and the second for Gillman, Stephenson and Abe. Knight was a first-team selection in 2016 and 2017. Knight joins Stephanie Meadow (2011-12-13-14) and Camilla Lennarth (2009-10-11) as the only Alabama women’s golfers to earn All-SEC first-team honors three or more times in their careers.

Gillman and Stephenson were first-team honorees in 2017 while Abe was a second-team selection in 2016.

Alabama earned the top seed at the NCAA Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional, which will be held May 7-9, at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course and Club.
