SEC Softball coaches preseason poll released
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Auburn softball team was selected to finish sixth in the Southeastern Conference for the 2018 season after a vote of the 13 head coaches in the league in the annual preseason poll.
The Tigers received 85 points through a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 point system. Florida was picked to win the league with 143 points and 11 first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
Auburn finished second last year in the SEC with a 49-12 record, including 17-7 in league play. The Tigers also reached the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals for the third consecutive season.
The 2018 season gets underway for Auburn Feb. 8 against Marshall as part of the Plainsman Invitational at Jane B. Moore Field.
The Tigers kick off SEC play with a three-game series at LSU, March 9-11. Auburn’s first conference home series is against Alabama, March 16-18.
The 2018 SEC Softball Tournament will take place May 9-12 at the Mizzou Softball Stadium in Columbia, Mo.
