Auburn’s Mychael O’Berry qualifies for U.S. Girls Junior

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn rising sophomore women’s golfer Mychael O’Berry earned co-medalist honors Thursday at the U.S. Girls Junior Sectional Qualifier, securing a spot in next month’s U.S. Girls Junior Championship.

O’Berry shot an even-par 70 at Montgomery Country Club to earn one of two available qualifying spots. Her round included a pair of birdies, 15 pars and one double-bogey. O’Berry and the other co-medalist finished two shots ahead of the third-place finishers.

The 70th U.S. Girls Junior Championship will be played at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif., July 16-21. The championship is open to all female amateurs who have not reached the age of 19 by July 21 and have a handicap not exceeding 9.4.
