Employee robbed at gunpoint outside of restaurant in Mobile

Surveillance video at a local Mexican restaurant in Mobile captured the moments leading up to a brazen robbery.

The robbery happened outside of Maria Bonita Mexican Restaurant on Government Boulevard around 10:15PM Monday night. The victim, a cook, was walking out of restaurant to his car when two masked men came from behind the dumpster and held him at gunpoint. Angelo Rossi is a manager at Maria Bonita. He said the robbers took the cook's money, wallet, and car keys.

"It's just been a lot of crazy things going on here lately," Rossi said, "I think they need to tighten up the security a little bit more."

According to local police records, in the past two days, there have been two thefts, a burglary, and two stolen vehicles reported in the area. Rossi said they want to see Mobile police increase patrols near the shopping centers.

"The Dollar General’s been hit a couple of times, so it’s been an ongoing thing. Someone’s trying to get in here, trying to rob,” he said.

Video captures the moments leading up the robbery, the cook walks out of the back door, and attempts to head to his car. Once he's in the parking lot, he's attacked and robbed. The video shows the aftermath of the cook walking back inside for help.

“Hopefully, we get this thing figured out," Rossi said.

The gunmen are still on the lose. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mobile police.
