Students attending the University of South Alabama may be paying more for tuition, room and board and school fees next year.

The Board of Trustees is expected to vote on the 2018-2019 increases Friday.

Tuition, under the proposal , would jump by 5% from $9390 per year to $9870 per year.

Fees would increase by $80 per year.

Dorm fees could increase 3.7% and dining fees could go up by 3.4% if approved.


Here’s the breakdown of proposed fees:

  • In-state undergraduate
  • Current $9,390
  • Proposed $9,870
  • Proposed room and board increases
  • Room average 3.7%
  • Dining average 3.4%
  • New proposed Academic Infrastructure & Technology fee for all students
  • FT student $100 per semester/$200 per year
  • PT student $60 per semester/$120 per year

By comparison, Auburn, Alabama, UAB and Troy are all planning 3.0% increases next school year.
