The Crichton Community breaks ground for new fire station

A ground breaking ceremony was held for a new fire station in the Crichton Community.

Earlier this year the Mobile City Council approved construction of the new fire station.

It's a move Public Safety Director, James Barber says is much needed in this community.

"What you have is the beginning of making sure we take mobile fire rescue from a class 3 rated city to a class 1 rated city as far as our response times and to take it even beyond that to be the best fire department in this country."

Officials say this new fire station was strategically placed to be able to cover several communities and in the event of an emergency they can be there in a matter of minutes.
