South Alabama head coach, Joey Jones, speaks out after resignation (WPMI)

South Alabama head coach, Joey Jones, is speaking out for the first time since his resignation was announced on Monday, Nov. 20.

Jones believes that this is the right time to step down.

"We have done a lot of really good things we've been to a couple bowls beat a few good teams." Jones said after practice on Tuesday.

South Alabama players are sad to see their coach go and our holding on to the legacy he is leaving behind.

Bull Barge, Jags linebacker says the news was tough to hear.

"Yesterday was tough we love coach a lot. We wish there was more we could do to help. I wish he was here still."

Barge also said that the team's goal now is to go up form here.

"Right now our focus is to send couch out on top and have one of the best games we've ever played his last game."

Jones will stay on to coach the Jags final game of the season against New Mexico State on Dec. 2.
