Shoppes at Bel Air Mall in Mobile increasing security after viral fight videos

In the wake of a recent fight that occurred at The Shoppes at Bel Air mall, owners of the mall are making plans to increase security. The latest fight at the mall in Mobile went viral recently with thousands of shares on social media. In a statement to Local 15, Rouse Properties, the owner of the mall said they plan to hire additional officers to patrol the area.

The statement reads in part:

The safety of all those who visit and work at The Shoppes at Bel Air is our top priority. While we were confident with the security protocol already in place, upon further review, we have implemented additional measures that we believe will further curtail unruly behavior and bring our customers and employees added peace of mind. Among the steps we have taken include: increased security presence both inside and around the property and the number of off-duty police officers on-site during high-volume hours; assigned security officers to be stationed at the main entrance on Friday and Saturday evenings; and added new security cameras in certain areas of the shopping center. We appreciate the support city officials and the Mobile Police Department provided to us during our review period, and together, we look forward to providing this community with an enjoyable and pleasant shopping environment each night of the week. – Rouse Properties, owner of The Shoppes at Bel Air
