Mobile toddler hospitalized for "walking into machete"

(MGN) The male subject was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd (Reckless Endangerment).

According to MPD, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at approximately 1:15 PM police responded to Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in reference to a 1-year-old victim being treated for a knife wound to the face.

The incident occurred at the 3000 block of Charmingdale Drive while the victim’s mother and a male subject were arguing and the child walked into a machete that was in the subject’s hand.

The MPD Special Victim's Unit and DHR are still investigating this case. No arrest has been made. According to a MPD spokespserson, there was an altercation between the victim's mother and a male subject about the mother's new boyfriend.

At this time, it appears it was an accident and that there was no intent to harm the child.

The child sustained minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.
