Mobile police officer arrested, charged with willful abuse of a child
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Mobile Police have fired an officer. According to spokesperson Charlette Solis, Michael Walley was terminated from the Mobile Police Department.
Walley is charged with two counts of willful abuse of a child, after abuse of a 6-year-old and 11-year-old was reported to police. He was accused of beating the two boys with a metal construction level.
"This is an unfortunate situation," said Chief Lawrence Battiste. "There are no winners here. We pray for the family and hope they can recover from this traumatic experience."
Assistant District Attorney Nicki Patterson says Walley lashed out because he thought the boys were being too loud and hit them in the neck, back, and knees.
Walley’s hire date with the Mobile Police Department was March 2016.
