Parent goes to middle school, threatens to choke student

39-year-old{ }Gabriel Lawson

Mobile Police say Gabriel Lawson, 39, came into Scarborough Middle school yesterday upset, wanting to choke a student who'd made fun of his daughter.

"I think that inappropriate, but you know people are emotional when it comes to family, you know?" said Suzette Soucier.

Police say Lawson tried to open classroom doors, but staff had already gone over the intercom system and told teachers to lock their doors. He never made contact with a student and left after administrators confronted him.

"Maybe his concerns weren't being met and he was going to get them met hiself," said Soucier.

A spokesperson for the school system told us a student had called his daughter a name but did not believe there was ongoing bullying.

We went to Lawson's home to find out why he was so fired up. No one answered.

The school system says its up to each school to notify parents of situations. Parents we spoke with say they had no clue what happened.

This is the 16th time Lawson has been booked into Mobile Metor Jail. His criminal history includes numerous charges of disorderly conduct, harassment and public intoxication. Lawson is now charged with making a terrorist threat and tresspassing after Tuesday's incident.

The school went into lock down after the parent tried to open several classroom doors. Gabriel Lawson, 39, was arrested and charged Terrorist Threat / Criminal Trespass 3rd.
